James and Monique’s shared vision led to the creation and combination of Unique Real Estate and Unique Staging, both built on innovation, presentation, and results, making it Cairns’ premier combined staging and sales company. But it didn’t stop there. Alongside these ventures, James also supported Monique’s dream of Unique@Home, bringing designer furniture to the Cairns public. His guidance, belief, and encouragement were instrumental in making her dream a reality. Beyond his professional achievements, James was a devoted husband to Monique and a loving father. His warmth, care, and integrity left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. James leaves behind a remarkable legacy of projects, ideas, and inspiration. Childcare Developments: James played a pivotal role in delivering high-quality early learning facilities, including the Edmonton and Redlynch Childcare Centres, both purpose-built, leased to Edge Early Learning, and sold to investors-demonstrating his ability to create lasting value through strategic partnerships and well-executed builds. More recently, the Bentley Park Childcare Centre continues this legacy, further supporting young families in the growing southern corridor. Residential & Mixed-Use Projects: In Kanimbla, James was currently overseeing a mixed residential development set for completion in 2026, reflection his commitment to thoughtful urban planning and meeting future housing needs. In Smithfield, the Trinity Residence on Reed Road adds to the expanding lifestyle offering in Cairns' northern suburbs. Urban Renewal & Inner City Success: A standout achievement includes the redevelopment of 120 Collins Avenue, Edge Hill - purchased for $2.36 million in 2016 and transformed into a vibrant, contemporary space. The property was later sold for $3.64 million in 2021 through Unique Real Estate. Its design and success reflect James's talent for identifying prime locations and elevating them with smart, modern concepts. Community-Led Housing: Projects like Village Edge, an inner-city development of over 60 homes, showcase James's ongoing dedication to delivering well-designed, community driven living spaces tailored to the unique lifestyle of Cairns residents.
